MSHP: Four dead after single-vehicle wreck

SAVANNAH, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says four people are dead after a single-vehicle wreck. The Patrol says it happened near 169 Highway and Route E, about nine miles northeast of St. Joseph, at 4 p.m. Thursday.

A 2007 Nissan Pathfinder traveled off the road, struck a driveway culvert and went airborne, overturning several times. The driver, 61-year-old Twila Obanion of St. Joseph, and three passengers were ejected.

Obanion, as well as the three passengers, 45-year-old Kimberly Walker of Union Star, 46-year-old Sharry Dawn of St. Joseph, and 81-year-old Darlene Obanion of St. Joseph, all died.

None were wearing their seat belt. A two-year-old girl that was in the car, and was in a safety restraint, suffered no injuries. No word yet on what caused the wreck.
